We have unveiled our new two-day Safety Leadership Development Programme, created in collaboration with our member organisations Karrdale, Salos Sunesis, Equilibria, and Why Human Factors.

Designed for Site Managers and Supervisors working in high-hazard environments, the programme helps participants develop non-technical leadership skills and deepen their understanding of human performance so they can build proactive, high-impact safety cultures. Delegates strengthen their leadership approach, enhance their coaching skills, and learn to communicate with clarity and purpose.

Our first course, held in early September, was very positively received by participants.

Craig Wiggins, our CEO, said: “Strong safety leadership is about more than systems and processes – it’s about how people think, interact and make decisions. This new course equips supervisors and managers with the awareness and skills they need to shape positive safety cultures. We’re grateful to Karrdale, Salos Sunesis, Equilibria and Why Human Factors for collaborating with us to bring it to life.”

Among the course’s interactive sessions is a segment focusing on personality diversity and behavioural awareness, helping delegates understand their own tendencies and those of others. Delivered using Equilibria’s E-Colours and Personality Diversity Indicator (PDI) tools, this element supports improved communication, stronger teamwork, and safer decision-making.

As an extension of our partnership, we are offering Step Change in Safety members a 10% discount on Equilibria’s Premium PDI Report – a personalised assessment priced at $49.99 – via https://www.equilibria.com/pdi-home using the code SCIS10%.

This collaboration is part of our wider strategy to work closely with members and partners, providing access to high-quality tools, resources, and training that help drive continuous safety improvements across the offshore and onshore energy sectors.
